About AdBlue®
Adblue® is a clear 32.5% solution of high-purity urea in de-mineralized water that is used with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology to reduce exhaust emissions of nitrogen oxides from diesel-fueled vehicles.
While neither a fuel nor a fuel additive, Adblue® has its own dedicated tank with an average consumption of approximately 4% to 6% of diesel use: Meaning 4 to 6 litres of Adblue® per 100 litres of fuel consumed.
Diesel Vehicles
Many diesel cars registered after September 2015 can reduce emissions by using AdBlue®. In general, if you own a Euro 6-compliant diesel (Audi, BMW, Citroën, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz or Peugeot) it’s likely to use Adblue® technology. There’s often a clue in the car’s model name, which may contain ‘Blue’ or ‘SCR’ (Selective Catalytic Reduction).
